We carry an assortment of rental instruments, and will fit you with the appropriate size.  We also have the relevant books and accessories.

We rent instruments on a Monthly basis or 9-Month contract. We will help you decide which plan is best for you and help you fill out the contract. You will need a valid credit card and ID to complete the contract. The actual contract is a rent-to-own plan through our affiliate, David French Music Company (DFM). Union Music does not take payments. We do process repairs and returns.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Information

When and How to I pay?
Your first payment will be charged within 2 weeks of renting. You will receive a Welcome Letter from the DFM office, detailing your contract and Contract Date. The Contract Date represents the day of the month that will serve as your due date for the duration of the rental. DFM does not bill, but will send statements if the payment is not received on time. A $5.00 late fee will apply once more than one monthly payment is still due. Payments can be set up through “Autopay”, but you may also mail checks or call to make credit card payments.

What is R&R?
The Repair and Replacement Program covers any and all repairs needed on the instrument, with the exception of intentional or solely cosmetic damage (that which does not affect the playability of the instrument); strongly recommended for beginners. R&R also covers loss of instrument by theft or fire (with police report). Not required, but highly recommended.

Can't I Just Buy an Instrument Online?
While it may seem cheaper, these instruments are not made to be as durable or high quality as the ones we offer, and will likely end up costing you more in repairs than you initially paid for the instrument.  We do have some new and used instruments available for sale – let us know if you are interested!

What does Rent-To-Own Mean?
Our rentals are Rent-To-Own, so the Monthly Rental Fee goes towards the eventual ownership of the instrument. Your contract indicates how many monthly payments until you own the instrument, but we always offer 30% off if you want to buy out of your contract early.

What if you / your child does not want to play anymore?
You can always return the instrument to Union Music in Worcester or DFM in Westborough with no cancellation fee. If you return the instrument within 10 days of your “Contract Date”, you will not owe that month’s payment.
