Union Music Presents an Drum Circle with:
Dave Curry
Saturday, March 27, from 1 to 3 pm
at the Union Music Performance Center

Join Dave Curry at Union Music as he facilitates a drum circle that is open to all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a veteran of the drum circle community or new to hand drumming, there's room in the circle for everyone to take part and contribute to this exploration of rhythm and percussion. The circle will begin with an introduction to hand drumming, with plenty of interactive instruction on how to get a good sound from the most common types of hand drums. Then we'll work on playing basic drum patterns that anyone can get the hang of quickly. As we get more comfortable with the instruments, we'll start to shift to "free style" drumming, where you're invited to experiment with playing what feels right within the context of what the group is doing as a whole. We'll touch on African, Middle Eastern, Latin and many other musical styles.

Both Dave and Union Music will supply a number of drums for borrowing, but you are encouraged to bring your own hand drum or percussion instrument if you own them.
