Bring a new song and surprise the group of talented musician’s that frequent TJ’s Open Mic Saturday. Always the 2nd Saturday of every month. Hosted in the Union Music Performance Center. We welcome all types & styles of acoustic and electric stringed instruments, singer/songwriters, keyboards, hand percussionist, no drum kits please and no offense but no spoken word, this is a music store.

Victor’s Bluegrass Jam

Right after the Jim Hurst performance, Bluegrass fans are invited to participate in Victor’s Bluegrass Jam. Open to all skill levels! Jam out with other musician’s in search of the elusive Bluegrass. Host & instructor, Victor Evdokimoff will guide the group through songs, chord changes and leads. Meet, greet, and jam at 6:30PM.

Doyle Dykes (born May 23, 1954) is an American country acoustic guitarist from Jacksonville, Florida. He is influenced by a wide variety of musical styles and musicians such as Chet Atkins, the Allman Brothers, to the Beatles and U2. Cited along with guitarists such as Tommy Emmanuel as one of the best fingerstyle guitarists in the world,he is also known for his capability of playing proficiently with a wide range of different guitar tunings. Some of his best-known works and interpretations are “Wabash Canonball”, “Country Fried Pickin”, “Tricky Pickin”, “Chet Stuff”, “Be Still”, “Amazing Grace” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”. Dykes is a devout Christian and has served as a minister in a small church in Florida; the influence of Christianity is present in much of his work. He was a major endorser of Taylor Guitars and Rivera Sedona amplifiers, with his own signature models of each. In 2013 he began endorsing the Guild Guitar Company.

Featuring the Sawyer Saxophone Student Solo Workshop!
30 Piece Big Band featuring Clarinet, Flute, Piano, Saxophone, Trombone and Trumpet students.

The spotlight is on: Gordon Goodwin, Grammy winning songsmith for motion pictures, the leader, writer, arranger, pianist, and saxophonist of “The Big Phat Band”. Horn of Puente, Goodwin’s Latin Tribute to Tito Puente (Cha-Cha, Songo, Mambo Movements) and Samba Del Gringo will be performed!

The Septones will be featured singing Duke Ellington’s In A Mellow Tone. Vocal arrangement by The New York Voices.

New song arranged and composed by Ken Sawyer called Lester’s Here, in tribute to Lester Young.

We meet at Union Music Performance Space at 7:00 PM with our fearless leader Rich “Amazing Dick” Leufstedt at the helm. What we do monthly is have a brief ukulele lesson, learn some chords and positions for them, work on our “strum”, and then play some 3 chord (easy) songs together. rich-leufstedt-wavesAfter that we have a chance for individuals to perform a song for the group, and then to socialize and talk about ukuleles.
